Take a look through our frequently asked questions...
At your first consultation we will listen to why you are considering aesthetic treatment; and address any concerns that you may have. We will listen and talk about your expectation and desired results. Dr Lou will look at your skin and talk you through the most appropriate procedure to achieve your desired look. Dr Lou will ask you about your medical history to ensure that the treatment advised is suitable for you. Your safety is her primary concern and if she doesn’t feel treatment is appropriate then she will advise against it. The initial consultation is absolutely free of charge – and if you need time to reflect before going ahead with treatment a separate appointment can be made.
You are welcome to bring a friend with you if you feel this would be helpful or supportive as part of your decision-making. There is no obligation to go ahead with any treatments recommended and you are encouraged to consider treatment carefully before proceeding. The support of a friend is often useful.
No, you do not need a referral from your GP. These are non-surgical elective procedures that are performed by a GP. Prior to any consultation there is a no-obligation consultation, which will include taking your medical history. Your safety and health is our most important concern and we will give you an honest opinion regarding your suitability for treatment.
The treatments offered are unlikely to cause any pain. Dr Lou will minimise the possibility of pain by using a cream to numb the area before undertaking any treatment. Treatment application is done using very fine needles – which again minimise the potential of pain. Dermal Fillers also contain some local anesthetic, which helps to make the treatment as comfortable as possible.
You will be awake throughout all the treatments offered. Dr Lou’s experience and calm manner will ensure that you remain relaxed through the procedure.

As with any medical procedure there are risks involved. Most side-effects occur shortly after injection and will disappear within 2 weeks. The most common side-effects include bruising, redness, swelling and pain. With Dermal Fillers less common side-effects can be raised bumps in the skin, infection, allergic reaction and in very rare circumstances, tissue death. With Anti-Wrinkle Injections less common side-effects can include infection, allergic reaction and eye-lid heaviness. Rare side-effects include pain or brow heaviness. In Dr Lou’s experience she finds that side-effects are unlikely – however she is able to recognise and manage any conditions or problems that may arise.
